Pilgrimage to Wasilla Alaska

Last July we made the Pilgrimage to Alaska from Caribou Maine.

We basically had 5 weeks to get ready for the trip, to close up the farm in Maine and prepare for our journey.

All the vehicles needed maintenance…full spare tires, chains, jumper cables, oil, antifreeze, jack, extra gasoline cans..etc.

We made the drive in 6 days, going through Canada during the wildfires was quite an adventure and pushed us to the limits.

We chose to ship as much as we could afford from Maine and return later to get the rest.

We were loaded up beyond what we should have been looking back, the fact that we made it here was totally divine intervention as you could see the volvo back end was about 3 inches from the ground.

The GMC Sierra towed the Woodmizer and also boarded our 2 dogs and 4 cats, this was the most stressful part as we had to let them out to do they duty 🙂 and stretch their legs.

The smoke was choking and blocked out the sun, and it was very hot last summer, so that also made it uncomfortable but we were determined to get to Alaska.

Seen some critters along the way on the Alcan.

Finally we made it to Alaska heading down from the highlands to Palmer AK, the mountains seam to go on forever, no wonder why they call this place the “Last Frontier”!
